Kevin McCarthy of all people is sneering at Democratic investigations of Trump? Hilarious

House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, soon to be the House minority leader, has some sage advice for Democrats as they take the majority, if by “sage advice” you mean laughably hypocritical concern trolling:

“It looks like what they’re going to focus on is more investigations,” McCarthy said on Fox News. “I think America is too great a nation to have such a small agenda.

“I think there’s other problems out there that we really should be focused upon,” he continued. “And my belief is, let’s see where we can work together. Let’s move America forward.”

Kevin McCarthy wasn’t just the second-in-command of the party that held hearing after hearing after hearing on Benghazi. He was one who said out loud that “Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable right? But we put together a Benghazi Special Committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping.”

Now, Democrats aren’t that wholly cynical—they wouldn’t hold that many hearings after it became clear that there wasn’t a there there. They’re looking to investigate an administration that has seen a staggering number of indictments and ethics investigations and resignations under clouds of suspicion. We’re not even to the first Benghazi hearing worth of “too great a nation to have such a small agenda.” To say nothing of the dozens of Obamacare repeal votes the Republican-led House took back when that wasn’t a possibility and the votes were all for show. And all we’re talking about here is the possibility of a sitting president who conspired with a foreign power to steal an election.

How does someone like McCarthy say these words without busting out into some weird hybrid of a James Bond villain laugh and a fratboy snigger at his own chutzpah?
